Course Information

Description: In this course, we will create a hanging doll in the shape of a flower, with dangling arms and legs, and a head resembling a flower bud. We will engage in sculpting, drawing, fabric dyeing, and a bit of sewing. As a result, you will be able to adorn your interior with a charming hanging flower doll.

What will Students learn? Students will learn the basics of doll sculpting, even if they have no prior experience in this field. Participants will learn how to dye fabrics using an original method. They will also learn to work with glued paper and master an unusual, unique technique.

  • Sculpting Stylus
  • Utility Knife
  • Scissors and Awl
  • Wire Cutters and Round-Nose Pliers
  • Sandpaper for Sanding
  • Brushes: Flat Natural Bristle, Size 4 or 5
    - Thin Round Synthetic or Sable, Size 0 or 1
  • Needles, Thread, Pins
  • Jars for Mixing Paints

MATERIALS:

  • PVA Glue
  • Papier-mâché and/or La Doll (or any Air Dry Clay)
  • Styrofoam Ball, 5 or 7 cm in diameter
  • Rope (Cord) about 5 mm in diameter
  • Thin Kraft Paper, 0.5 m
  • Small Styrofoam

Anna Zueva

Mixed media

Anna Zueva, an artist and dollmaker from Vilnius, Lithuania, crafts unique paperclay dolls, each with handmade clothing. A member of NIADA since 2013, her work is showcased in international exhibitions, museums and galleries. Her awards include the “Best OOAK Mini-Human” at the 2010 Colliii Awards (Germany) and first prize at the “Hello, Dolly!” competition in Russia. She was featured in the Contemporary Doll Collector Magazine (USA), received a grant from the European Cultural Foundation in 2011, the Pandora Platinum Prize in 2016, and was honored by Lithuania's Ministry of Culture with the “Status of Art Creator” in 2022.
